Cirrus I | Els Kampert | Acrylic on Canvas

This large grey and cream poured work is named after the split in a river: River bifurcation (from Latin: furca, fork) occurs when a river flowing in a single stream separates into two or more separate streams (called distributaries) which continue downstream. Some rivers form complex networks of distributaries, especially in their deltas. The edges of the grey paint form complicated deltas as it merges with the cream coloured background.

Gray is a cool, neutral, and balanced colour. It is an emotionless, moody colour that is typically associated with a formal, conservative, and sophisticated home or office style. Dark, charcoal grey, like in this piece, communicates some of the strength and mystery of black. It is a sophisticated colour that lacks the negativity of the colour black.
On a cream background, the grey has a warmer tone offsetting the coolness of the grey river.

Beige is dependable, conservative, and flexible. The colour beige is neutral, calm, and relaxing. Beige is a neutral, relaxing, and calming colour, which has some of the same pureness and softness of the colour white, but with a warmer tone.
