A Painter of emotion.

What is her style?

Abstract and figurative painter. Started out as mainly a figurative painter. Now works and reworks art works, sometimes makes use of mixed media items to strengthen abstract pieces. Constantly thinking about the uses of colour, texture and composition to distill emotions onto canvas. Style is clean and precise, even abstract or seemingly looser works are meticulously painted.

Why is her style special?

There is the ability to portray distilled emotions in the work. Her meticulous style allows for all her work to hold on to fleeting emotions or moments. Other works like her Mysterious Powers series attunes to a stronger emotion. Like a tenor holding a note for longer than thought possible. Her style paintings hold several layers of intrigue for any level of interest in her work.

What are her qualifications?

Leliefeld has been making art for decades. She was also an art teacher for many years within the Dutch school system. She curates other artists in the region an creates art exhibits for Museum Voorschoten.

She has been inspiring creativity and making art over half a century. She is continuously developing her style by painting together with fellow artist in the region of Voorschoten. Impression of Tuscany is an example of a work that combines her own strengths as an artist with a bit of canvas experimentation.

What does art mean to Leliefeld?

Art means expressing your emotion without using words. Art is the creation of aesthetics. When you look at her work Leliefeld hopes that her work will spark a moment of joy or loosen the grip of the toil of the everyday through seeing something beautiful.

Monique Leliefeld is organizing an exhibition '50 Shades of Red' in August 2019 at Museum Voorschoten.
