Adéle painted this piece with sand instead of her usual coffee granules. This piece is a turning point in her work, from coffee grains serving as a backdrop to her heavily textured pieces.

Adéle thinks this looks like Hydrangeas because it has the same shape and color palette as Hydrangeas. Hydrangeas can range from snow white to pink and purplish blue. The color of the flowers depends on the alkaline condition of the soil. She often paints in her garden and has a large Hydrangea near her summer workplace.

At the same time, this piece could be cloudy, or cheesy, or… and Adéle runs away with hundreds of ideas. She hates naming her works. The fact is that this painting is an uplifting and joyful piece, just like the beginning of spring. Adéle can barely remember what she was looking at; she was fascinated by the shapes of small details. That is an ongoing theme in her work, small moments and small aspects of our lives and society that she distills into a painting.
