This large landscape painting is of the morning sun rising over a snow-covered field. Far in the back, the field is bordered with the start of an evergreen forest. The sky above the peaks of the trees is a bright blue, promising a beautiful winter day. The thick layer of snow is disturbed by a dog, who has run into the field and can be seen in the distance. We know the layer of snow is thick as the dog ran onto the sight of the painting from the lower left side.
